02 Jul Richard Mille RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic 2025: Limited 150-Piece Racing Tribute
Since its launch in 2002, the Le Mans Classic has evolved into one of motorsport’s most revered tributes to endurance racing history. Held biennially on the legendary 13.6 km Circuit de la Sarthe, the event gathers an extraordinary range of vintage race cars, divided into six grids that span the golden eras from 1923 through the early 2000s. In 2025, from July 3rd to 6th, over 750 historic vehicles will thunder back to life, revisiting the tarmac that once crowned champions. Yet Le Mans Classic is more than a track event—it’s a cultural movement. Over 235,000 enthusiasts descended on the 2023 edition, a massive leap from the 30,000 who attended its inaugural year. Over 9,000 classic cars, representing more than 80 marques and 200 international clubs, will be on display throughout the grounds, turning the venue into a living museum of motorsport’s most storied machines.
At the heart of this celebration is Richard Mille, the official timekeeping partner and long-standing patron of the event. The Swiss watchmaker has been closely aligned with the Le Mans Classic since its inception, united by a mutual obsession with precision mechanics and performance heritage. Since 2008, Richard Mille has produced a commemorative Le Mans Classic timepiece for every edition, each featuring the event’s distinctive green and white livery. Now, for the upcoming 12th edition, Richard Mille unveils the RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic—a limited release of just 150 timepieces that captures the spirit of the race in wearable form.
Housed in a 42 mm x 49.94 mm x 17.59 mm tonneau-shaped case, the RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic is framed by titanium bezels and centered around a Green Quartz TPT caseband. Bold green and orange accents dance across the dial, joined by a checkered-flag motif surrounding the oversized date display and the official Le Mans Classic logo stamped into the sapphire crystal caseback. A perforated green rubber strap ties the aesthetic to the grid with automotive edge. But this timepiece is more than a celebration of form—it’s a powerhouse of function. At its core is the Calibre RMAR2, a self-winding skeletonized movement modified to include a 24-hour counter. The numeral “16” stands out in green, a subtle yet significant nod to the traditional 4 PM start time of the iconic endurance race. With a frequency of 4 Hz and a 55-hour power reserve, the movement guarantees precision under pressure.

The skeletonized titanium bridges and baseplate evoke the blueprint of a racetrack, while a power reserve indicator and clutch engagement display provide further functionality. Located at 11 o’clock, the clutch indicator signals whether the rotor is actively winding or disengaged—a system that protects the watch from overwinding. Above the oversized date window, a function-selector shows the current mode: W for winding, D for date correction, and H for hand-setting, with changes made via a gearshift-like pusher at 2 o’clock. The rotor’s variable geometry system disengages automatically once the power reserve hits full charge, ensuring consistent torque delivery.

This isn’t just another racing tribute—it’s a mechanical homage to one of motorsport’s most timeless arenas. Precision, endurance, and elegance meet in the RM 30-01 Le Mans Classic. With only 150 units produced and a retail price of CHF 220,000, it’s destined to be as rare and revered as the cars it honors. For collectors and racing purists alike, it represents a convergence of heritage and horological innovation—an icon reborn for the wrist.
