30 Mar BMW ALPINA B4 GRAN COUPÉ
After over 50 years of working hand-in-hand, BMW and Alpina finally made it official — BMW has bought out the famed German tuner. While it will be a few years before we see something like the Mercedes-AMG relationship, the BMW Alpina B4 Gran Coupé is here to tide enthusiasts over until the current cooperation agreement ends in 2025. The B4 uses a specially-tuned twin-turbocharged inline-six to make 495 horsepower, 21 more than the M4, and a massive 538 lb-ft of torque.
Power is transmitted via all-wheel-drive and a remapped ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, with 0-62 coming in a claimed 3.7 seconds and a terminal velocity of 1987 MPH. Alpina’s Sport Suspension uses bespoke roll bars and a damper and spring combination to keep a composed ride at autobahn speeds. Also included are a custom exhaust and an electronic rear limited-slip differential. There was no word on whether the B4 will come to the US, but expect Alpina models in North America sooner rather than later.
