03 Apr Jetson One: The Personal Flying Vehicle Turning Sci-Fi Into Reality
Swedish startup Jetson is transforming science fiction into reality with the Jetson One, a fully electric personal eVTOLaircraft designed for short-range flight. This futuristic craft weighs just over 250 pounds, including its batteries, and is classified as an ultralight aircraft in the U.S. Because of that, you don’t need a pilot’s license to fly it. However, you can’t use it at night, over cities, or near airports.
Simple Design with High-Tech Performance
Jetson built the aircraft using an aluminum space frame and carbon fiber body panels, which keeps it strong and lightweight. Eight electric rotors, positioned on four arms, lift a single passenger with ease. Inspired by the Return of the Jedi “landspeeder,” the Jetson One gives riders a thrilling low-altitude flight experience.
It can ascend at 25 feet per second and usually flies between 15 and 30 feet off the ground. The top speed is 63 mph, and it can stay in the air for about 20 minutes—enough for a quick commute or recreational flight.
Powered by Electricity, Designed for Safety
With a peak power output of 88kW, the Jetson One runs on clean, fully electric energy. More importantly, Jetson focused on making it safe and easy to fly.
Some of the standout safety features include:
-
A triple-redundant flight computer that automatically hovers or lands if the pilot lets go of the controls
-
Lidar sensors that help avoid obstacles
-
A ballistic parachute that deploys quickly in emergencies
-
Crumple zones built into the frame to absorb impact
-
A system that allows the aircraft to remain airborne even if one motor fails
Because of its simple, intuitive controls, new users can learn to fly it within minutes.
High Demand and Limited Availability
Jetson sells the One as a ready-to-assemble kit for $92,000 USD. Once assembled, the aircraft weighs about 190 poundsand can carry a pilot weighing up to 210 pounds.
Since launching, demand has surged. Jetson built only 12 units in 2022 and plans to double production every year. Slots for 2025 and 2026 are already sold out, and the company is now accepting pre-orders for 2027. Because production is still limited, Jetson carefully chooses its buyers—favoring experienced pilots and influencers who can help showcase the vehicle worldwide.
A New Era of Personal Flight
The Jetson One isn’t just another gadget—it’s a leap forward in personal transportation. With smart design, advanced safety, and zero emissions, it brings the dream of individual air mobility closer than ever. For those ready to fly into the future, Jetson is leading the way.
