After three years of development, Aperta Motors solar-powered EV is beginning production. The teardrop-shaped Launch Edition is a three-wheeled EV with an extremely efficient aerodynamic profile — Aperta claims a drag coefficient of just 0.13.

The nose and roof are covered in solar cells that can generate up to 40 miles of range per day if left in direct sunlight, with a 400-mile range at full charge.

Despite the focus on efficiency, the Launch Edition can run from 0-60 in under four seconds and hit a top speed of 101 MPH. Reservations for the Launch Edition are open now, with Aperta planning on producing 5,000 units.
