04 Aug NIKE LEBRON JAMES INNOVATION CENTER
Nike has a history of innovation that dates back to the original Waffle Sole. Thus they built a whole building dedicated to it. Named for basketball great LeBron James, the new Innovation Center is home to the Nike Sport Research Lab. The Olson Kundig-designed building has a cantilevered top floor and houses multiple facilities, including a 100-meter straightaway, full-size basketball court, 200-meter endurance track, and the world’s largest motion-capture installation, made up of 400 cameras. There are also 97 force plates, body-mapping equipment, and four advanced climate chambers where athletes can try out their gear in nearly any conditions.
