Kevin Bracey: Empowering Communities and Inspiring Positive Change

Kevin’s journey into the realm of community service began at the tender age of 12, when he became involved with the Sanford Avenue Block Association in Flushing, Queens, NY, alongside his father. His commitment went beyond mere participation; upon returning home from recreational activities at the Flushing Boys’ Club, Kevin took on the responsibility of manning the community patrol base radio stationed in his apartment. His duties were crucial; he diligently checked in with the patrol every 30 minutes, meticulously noting their locations, and remained vigilant to report any signs of trouble by promptly dialing 911.

This early exposure to community engagement instilled in Kevin a sense of duty and responsibility towards his community, values that he carried with him throughout his life. As he pursued higher education at Winston-Salem State University, Kevin embraced the institution’s motto: “Enter to Learn, Depart to Serve.” During his time at Winston-Salem, he not only absorbed knowledge but also actively contributed to the community. Kevin spent 24 summers coaching at basketball camps, demonstrating his commitment to giving back.

Upon joining Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Epsilon Sigma Chapter in Harlem, NY, Kevin immersed himself in various leadership roles. Over the years, he served as the chapter’s President, Vice President, and held positions in Public Relations, Sigma/Zeta Relations, and Chair/Mentor of the Sigma Beta Club for an impressive 9 years. Under his guidance, the Sigma Beta Club flourished, engaging in numerous community service projects. Kevin’s leadership was instrumental in the club’s recognition, winning both the National “Model” Sigma Beta Club of the Year and Sigma Beta Club of Region awards.

Beyond his fraternity involvement, Kevin’s dedication to community service is evident in his active participation in various organizations and initiatives. He is a proud member of The One Hundred Black Men of America, Inc., New York Chapter, where he contributes to mentoring programs. Additionally, Kevin volunteers for numerous events and causes such as Harlem Week, the NYC Marathon, and the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life,” showcasing his unwavering commitment to making a difference.

In addition to his extensive community service work, Kevin is also an entrepreneur. Alongside his wife, Cisa Mack-Bracey, they run “Your Image by Cisa,” offering image consulting and personal shopping services. Moreover, Kevin serves as the Director of Events for PLUSH Vodka, an innovative venture offering Plum-infused vodka, showcasing his versatility and leadership skills beyond the realm of community service.

Kevin’s thirst for knowledge led him back to college, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Liberal Arts from Mercy College and later earned an MBA from Mississippi Valley State University. Despite his busy schedule, Kevin remains deeply committed to his family and finds joy in spending quality time with his wife, Cisa, and their son, Brian Hardy II.

In essence, Kevin’s life serves as a beacon of the true essence of community service. Motivated by a sincere desire to uplift and empower others, he has dedicated himself wholeheartedly to serving his community. His tireless efforts, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to service stand as a source of inspiration to all those who have had the privilege of knowing him.
